Last week we predicted that Adele would hit near three million first-week album sales for 25, and she went above and beyond anyone’s expectations!
The numbers are in, and 25 sold 3.38 million copies last week. It only took three days for sales to outnumber the previous record of 2.42 million first-week sales, held by *NSYNC.
While fans kept a close eye on these numbers, a few other record-breaking moments went unnoticed for Adele this season.
1. Biggest first-week U.K. sales
Adele captivated her homeland as much as the United States! First-week sales figures for the top 85 U.K. albums combined (not including 25) did not add up to Adele’s impressive 800,000 sales.
2. Most Vevo Views in 24 Hours
Adele’s mysterious phone call with an ex lover (or possibly herself) is still on repeat in the minds of listeners everywhere. That’s no surprise since the “Hello” music video had the most views on Vevo in 24 hours ever with 27.7 million views, beating Taylor Swift’s record of 20.1 million for “Bad Blood.”
3. Fastest 100 Million Views on Vevo
“Hello” again! The music video hit the 100,000,000 view mark after five days on Vevo, snatching the record from Miley Cyrus and “Wrecking Ball,” which took six days.
4. Most downloads sold in a week
“Hello” sold 1.1 million digital copies in the week of October 29, making it the first album ever to sale a million copies in a single week.
5. Biggest YouTube Premiere of 2015
The “Hello” music video was viewed more than 50 million times on YouTube in the first 48 hours after it dropped, the most two-days views of 2015.
