In a new interview for Glamour Magazine’s June issue, pop sensation and gay icon Adam Lambert opened up about sexuality in Hollywood, experimenting with a woman, and even using botox.
The ex-RCA artist first made headlines while competing on the eighth season of American Idol. Before Adam Lambert came out of the closet, entertainment media labeled the star as likely to be gay for his then dark, eyeliner-heavy look. Less than a week after the release of his new single “Ghost Town,” Adam tells Glamour he is drawn to confident women (“like most gay men”) and that he has slept with a woman (not that it should matter).
“I have [slept with a woman] before,” he said. “I did it for the first time when I was 29. It was kind of a random thing, but I was very curious. … It felt great. It was a friend of mine and there was tequila involved and a full moon and then suddenly [laughs].”
It’s a bit strange that the interviewer even included this question in her interview with Adam, but since he answered it honestly why not include something more shocking?
“I’ve been with a few of them,” Adam said. But this time he’s not referring to women. Now he’s talking about closeted men in Hollywood.
“Whether’s it’s music or acting, you’ve got to remember that those industries are primarily run by men, so maybe it’s about that,” he added when asked why so many men in Hollywood stay closeted. “But with women being the primary moviegoers and record-buyers, surely it shouldn’t matter so much?”
In the interview, on newsstands next month, Adam also admitted to using botox to freshen up every once in awhile and notes that most celebrities, male or female, have had experience with botox. Botox seems to be becoming a popular way of maintaining a youthful and fresh look, with some people looking to a board-certified plastic surgeon in order to get touched up once in a while.
“I’ve done it around my eyes a couple of times, because I think a little ‘refreshing’ is fine. But I don’t want to change my face, I just want to look ‘rested.’ Still, I do think there is a point where it can get really over the top,” Adam said. “If you start looking like a lion, that’s probably a good moment to stop. But all the men in the film and music industry are doing stuff.”
Does it surprise you that Adam’s been involved with “straight” men in Hollywood? Let us know in the comments who you think these closeted actors and singers could be. Since the star was so open about his experiences, we’re really excited to see what else he might reveal on his upcoming album The Original High. Find out more about that and listen to the album’s lead single here.Note: Populove is currently undergoing site maintenance following a hiatus.
