Amber Skye’s upcoming EP will put magic back in music

Singer-songwriter and television actress Amber Skye is preparing to drop a new EP this summer, and you’re sure to be bewitched.

Although she’s most recognized for roles in CW’s Beauty and the Beast and One Life to Live and NBC’s The Blacklist, Amber Skye’s heart is primarily invested in music. Her 2010 EP was a finalist in Billboard’s songwriting competition, and VH1 featured the singer on a compilation album in 2013. Her 2014 single, “Howlin,” has the potential to be her breakout hit. Amber Skye’s style has similarities to that of Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and recent Sia releases but with mystical undertones and a voice strong enough to kill.

“If I could live in a big house and have my sisters be Lana Del Rey, Florence Welch, and Lorde, I would undoubtedly be at home. Oh, and Stevie Nicks and Debbie Harry would be our cool aunts,” Amber says on her official website.

A struggle for all independent artists is finding the finances to pay producers, sound engineers and studio owners, among other costs. To combat this struggle, Amber launched a Kickstarter project for fans to help fund her upcoming Rivers EP. Fans have already contributed over $16 thousand, but — with only three days left to raise funds — the project is still $1,500 short of Amber’s $18,000 goal. “I’ve had to overcome so much just to get here, including a scary vocal surgery and months of writing, experimenting with colors of new sounds and finding a great production team to truly discover who I am as an artist,” Amber wrote on Kickstarter.
