Band to watch in 2016: Oh Honey

2016 is set to be another music filled year with big releases coming from Fifth Harmony, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and so many more. A band that is making their way into the scene is Indie/Folk-Pop duo Oh Honey which is composed of Mitchy Collins and Danielle Bouchard.

The group first broke out into the scene when their leading single “Be Okay” from their debut EP With Love was covered on Fox’s hit television series Glee on March 24, 2014 in the episode titled New Directions.

They started quickly gaining momentum and signed with Atlantic Records in February 2014 under the Fueled by Ramen label. The duo then headed on three different tours in which they opened for James Blunt, The Fray and American Authors.

Collins and Bouchard released two more EPs one in 2014 titled Sincerely Yours and one in 2015 titled Wish You Were Here. The leading single from Wish You Were Here was “Sugar, You” a fun upbeat track about having that one person in your life that you want to get to know better. It’s very feel good.

Personally, I found out about Oh Honey when they opened for A Great Big World at a private acoustic show I won tickets to back in August 2014. The moment they started playing, I instantly fell in love. There’s something about them that pulls you in. They’re all about spreading love and positivity and we need more musicians spreading that message. There isn’t enough of them out there with all the craziness going on in the world.

I really hope 2016 is the year that Bouchard and Collins gets the recognition they deserve. Talent like this shouldn’t go unrecognized. Their voices are absolutely beautiful live and their songwriting is wonderful. They really make you feel (if that makes any sense?).  I see so much potential in them to be the ‘next big thing’ so be sure to watch out for them this year.

Oh Honey’s three EPs are available to purchase digitally now with their debut album set to release sometime this year.
