Law enforcement reported to TMZ on Tuesday afternoon that Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital after what appears to have been a heroin overdose.

Update 1: Demi Lovato was treated with Narcan — an emergency treatment for narcotic overdoses — at her house in the Hollywood Hills where the overdose occurred.

Update 2: Demi Lovato was unconscious when paramedics arrived. TMZ has released audio from the emergency situation. Listen below.

Update 3: Sources tell People that Demi is “stable” at the hospital. Her aunt confirmed on Facebook that she is awake and responsive.

Update 4: “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy,” a rep told TMZ. The website updated their story, changing “heroin overdose” to “drug overdose.”

“Sources say Demi was transported from a home in the Hollywood Hills just before noon Tuesday, and is currently being treated. We do not know her condition,” TMZ wrote when the story broke.

Demi Lovato has been outspoken about her substance use and recovery over the years. She entered treatment for bipolar disorder, addiction, bulimia, and self-harm in 2010. She later entered a sober living facility for a year after relapsing. She is believed to have been sober from cocaine, alcohol, and oxycontin for the past six years.

Demi performed Paso Robles on Sunday with Iggy Azalea and was scheduled to perform in Atlantic City later this week.

Lady Gaga and other stars tweeted their thoughts and love to Demi on Tuesday.

“We should all wrap our arms of love around Demi Lovato,” Gaga tweeted. “I am so happy you’re alive. Thank God.”

  1. This country needs to be better educated on mental health so we can have a real push to make mental health and addiction services more useful and accessible to the Americans who need it. She has donated to and campaigned for mental health advocacy organizations for years. Love her to death.
