Elton John — close friend and collaborator to Lady Gaga — said on Monday that the genre-swapping performer may not release new pop music until next year.

The news came during a broadcast of “Elton John’s Rocket Hour,” a spontaneous Beats 1 Radio takeover he launched in 2015. Apple Music members can stream the broadcast at the link below.

“I’ve heard two or three songs from her new record, which she’s making with Mark Ronson, and it’s f–absolutely brilliant, so you’re gonna be really happy when you hear that later in the year or early next year,” Elton said.

Another long-time Gaga collaborator, Tony Bennett, confirmed late last month that the duo are working on a follow-up to 2014’s Cheek To Cheek jazz album. He said the new record, which was first announced in 2014, will be available this year.
