Lana Del Rey fans were teased this week with a snippet of brand new track called “Life is Beautiful,” written for the upcoming film The Age Of Adaline.
Lana is certainly no stranger to the movie soundtrack world. Rumors are flying high that she will be singing the next Bond theme, but for the meantime Del Rey has announced her place on the soundtrack for The Age of Adaline, a film directed by Lee Toland Krieger that will hit cinemas on April 24th.
From what we can hear in the film’s trailer (above), “Life is Beautiful” is a dark, dreamy love song. Lana’s trademark airy vocals are beautifully accompanied by soft strings which have always fit with her vocals. “Life is Beautiful” will play alongside tracks by Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan and Jefferson Airplane, among others.
Starring Harrison Ford and Blake Lively, Adaline follows the story of Adaline Bowman as she journeys through life being unable to age as the result of a serious car accident. The film is a mix of love story and fantasy, making Lana’s sound a great contribution to the soundtrack.
Director Lee Krieger told USA Today that “in a world consumed with youth and vanity, there’s something very fresh and beautiful about a story focusing on the beauty of growing old.” His vision seems to fit Del Rey’s lyrics perfectly. In the song, she sings “we can go anywhere right now, life is still so beautiful.”
It is not yet confirmed whether “Life is Beautiful” will feature on Lana’s forthcoming album Honeymoon, however it is certainly something for fans to enjoy whilst we wait for her full LP.
The singer will embark on her Endless Summer Tour alongside Courtney Love starting on May 7th in Texas. Details on dates and tickets can be found here.
So, what do you think of “Life is Beautiful” so far? Are you excited to hear the full song? Will you be going to see The Age of Adaline? Let us know in the comments!
