Grimes confirmed she updated the name of her newborn child to comply with California’s law.
The baby’s previous name X Æ A-12 didn’t comply with laws in California, where the child was born. According to the state’s law, parents can only use the 26 characters from the English language when naming a child.
An instagram follower asked Grimes if she changed the name to which the singer replied,
“X Æ A-Xii.” She added, “Roman numerals. Looks better tbh.”
Though, many were caught off guard with the original name and found it difficult to pronounce, the Space-X founder and father of “X,” broke down the pronunciation during an interview with Joe Rogan.
He noted that “X” is pronounced like the letter and Æ sounds like “ash.” Musk went on to add that A-12 was his idea. “Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR71, coolest plane ever,” he explained.
The Space X boss also admitted that Grimes was actually the one who “mostly came up with the name… Yeah, she’s great at names,” he laughed.
X Æ A-Xii was born earlier this month and according to sources is very healthy and happy.
