The release of Beyoncé’s visual album, LEMONADE, drew the masses to question husband Jay Z’s infidelity and the identity of the woman or women Queen B calls “Becky with the good hair.” Jay Z has kept quiet about this trending topic so far, and it may be to cash in with his own album.
According to a source who spoke with Us Weekly about the controversy, Jay Z is preparing an album that will give his perspective on Lemonade.
“Jay is working on an album telling his side of things,” the source said.
Jay Z, 46, and Beyoncé, 34, have faced public marriage issues before. The couple reportedly split in 2014 around the time TMZ leaked footage of sister Solange Knowles attacking the rapper in an elevator. The attack is believed to have been a response to Jay Z flirting with designer Rachel Roy.
According to Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, that’s not the case this time around.
“People want to make it about her,” Knowles told Us. “Maybe she dug deep and made it about something we all could relate to.”
If that’s the case, then Beyoncé’s plan for Lemonade wasn’t about honesty but exposure and charts. A new album from Jay Z written in response to Lemonade would be the same.
