Kanye was featured on the cover of Paper Magazine and Yeezus himself wrote the accompanying story. In his write up, he responds to those who target musicians and celebrities as Illuminati members. Kanye thinks it’s all “Ridiculous.”
“I heard a comment — a joke — about the Tidal press conference being an Illuminati moment. If there was actually an Illuminati, it would be more like the energy companies. Not celebrities that gave their life to music and who are pinpointed as decoys for people who really run the world. I’m tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That’s ridiculous. We don’t run anything; we’re celebrities. We’re the face of brands. We have to compromise what we say in lyrics so we don’t lose money on a contract,” he said in the article.
When Kanye speaks, it’s usually something he feels very strongly about. Some love him, and some hate him, but whatever your feelings are on Mr. West, you can’t deny his passion for what he does.
As fun as the Tidal Illuminati theories may be, Kanye’s words are honest and somewhat powerful.
“Madonna is in her 50s and gave everything she had to go up on an award show and get choked by her cape. She’s judged for who she adopts. Fuck all of this sensationalism. We gave you our lives. We gave you our hearts. We gave you our opinions!” he also said.
Reading an article about Kanye, written by Kanye, might not seem like a worthwhile endeavor. However, his words on celebrities giving their lives to music reminds me why I always come back to seeing what he has to say. Beyond the arrogance, there is a devoted artist.Note: Populove is currently undergoing site maintenance following a hiatus.
