Alright, CoopGa fans, give it up. Last night on Jimmy Kimmel, Lady Gaga put an end to rumors suggesting her and Bradley fell in love after filming A Star Is Born.
After performing “Shallow” at the Oscars on Sunday night, the world was convinced love was in the air for Gaga and Cooper. Dimmed lights- check, Gushy eyes- check, two Oscar nominated actors fooling the internet- err check.
“And what it has done to pop culture is just like, abysmal. And yeah, people saw love, and guess what? That’s what we wanted you to see. I mean, this is a love song, ‘Shallow.’ The movie, A Star Is Born, it’s a love story. We worked so hard. We worked all week on that performance.”
Evidently, the staging was all Cooper.
Bradley, who—you know, I like, never relinquish control at a live stage performance, I’ve done a million of them—he directed this film. And he directed all of the musical moments in the film, and he directed obviously ‘Shallow,’ the moment in the film. So I knew that he had the vision for how it should go.
“And from a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time,” she explained. “I mean look, I’ve had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. When you’re singing love songs, that’s what you want people to feel.”
To be fair, TonyGa had its fair share of rumors back in the day. Either way, we give Gaga props for handling this like a boss!
