Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are not separated despite rumors that have circulated today. A spokeswoman for the Golden Globe winner told PageSix that they are taking “a break.”
Update: Lady Gaga herself has posted on social media, clearing up the rumors.
“Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates,” she said on Facebook with the below photo. “Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”
TMZ set the internet on fire when they published a story Tuesday claiming the couple had gone their separate ways. The story was then picked up by People before every other news outlet in America.
“They are still in constant communication,” the spokeswoman told PageSix. “Yes they are on a break, but they hope they can work things out. They still have a really deep love and respect for each other.”
“They realized they needed a break when she started working on her album,” she added. “He started shooting the show [Chicago Fire] and they weren’t spending as much time together. They stopped seeing each other so much and they drifted apart.”
Rumors surfaced when fans noticed Gaga wasn’t wearing her heart-shaped engagement ring and hadn’t been seen with Kinney in over a month. It’s even possible that TMZ‘s anonymous source was fan community GagaDaily.com (GGD); fans speculated the breakup for almost a week before the news site reported it.
“Gaga and Kinney have been noticeably absent from each other’s lives lately … at events and on social media. Gaga was seen without her engagement ring last week in Malibu — the same day Taylor celebrated his 35th birthday,” TMZ said. All of this information was publicly accessible on GGD.
The couple met back in summer of 2011 when filming Gaga’s music video for “Yoü and I,” a song she wrote about off-on boyfriend Lüc Carl who she left after filming the video in his hometown. Click here to see the video.
