American beauty Lana Del Rey began her first US headline tour this week, and, as always, she did not disappoint!
The Endless Summer Tour began on May 7th at The Woodlands, Texas, and it was Lana’s first headline show this year. The concert was supported by singer Courtney Love who took to the stage before Lana to perform an eight-track set.
The stage is arguably Lana’s most impressive to date: it features large skyscrapers which light up, a retro-looking “DEL REY” glowing sign, and a huge screen to project her videos onto. Her most recent album’s opening track “Cruel World” opened the show, a perfect way to set the tone for a beautiful show. She followed this with “Cola,” “Blue Jeans” and “West Coast,” then shocked audiences by performing the first of three unreleased tracks. The first of these was “Us Against The World,” a song which had previously leaked, and made for a sassy performance accompanied by her live band.
Another highlight of the show was the live debut of her Ultraviolence track “Brooklyn Baby.” Lana sang this song in front of a huge backdrop of the iconic Brooklyn bridge — fitting for the east coast-inspired song. As the set moved on, Lana also debuted two more unreleased songs: “You Can Be The Boss” and “Serial Killer.” Videos of these two performances drove fans around the world crazy as they were able to see Lana perform tracks they never imagined she would perform!
After performing an emotional cover of Peggy Lee’s “Why Don’t You Do Right,” Lana closed the show with her fun Born To Die track “Off To The Races” — a personal favorite and all round great way to end the set.
The Endless Summer Tour continues across the United States well into June, so we can expect a lot more Lana Del Rey updates in coming months! Also, with a new album Honeymoon and single rumoured to be coming very soon, could Lana add some new songs to her tour set list? We will have to wait and see!
