Lorde gets royal with new $3 million house

Lorde, known by family as Ella Yelich-O’Connor, just bought her first home for $3 million in a quiet villa area of Auckland City, NZ.

The “Royals” singer’s name made headlines around the world after the debut single dominated radio stations for nine weeks. “Royals” sold 17 million copies and won Lorde two Grammys — and the cash for her new home.

Despite the price, the four-bedroom home is only slightly larger than most homes in New Zealand.

Lorde signed for the property in August but the purchase was completed only last month. During those months, Lorde visited the studio to begin recording her second album. A release date is not set.
