On Sunday night, Madonna made a surprise appearance at Coachella, which resulted in what would not be her first kiss seen ‘round the world. Using the same surprise performance tactic she employed for her Britney Spears kiss at the 2003 VMAs, Madonna’s victim this time was rapper Drake.

30 minutes into his set, Drake performed his song “Madonna,” in which he promises to make a female love interest as “big as Madonna.” After only a verse and a chorus, the pop star herself walks onstage unannounced to perform her song “Human Nature.”

For her surprise performance, Madonna appeared alone onstage dancing about a chair. As the song came to an end, she removed her trench coat to reveal a shirt reading “Big As Madonna” as a nod to Drake’s song.

By the time the trench coat was off, Drake had walked back onstage to sit in the chair. After giving Drake a borderline lap dance, Madonna leaned over the rapper from behind and kissed him on the lips for what seemed like an eternity.

After Madonna pulled away, Drake wiped off his lips. The rapper has insisted that his facial expression was due to the taste of Madonna’s lipstick in his mouth, and not the kiss itself.

“Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel 100 about that forever. Thank you Madonna,” Drake posted on his Instagram Monday night.
