Update 5/15: Melanie confirmed this story to be false. The comment on Justin Bieber’s Instagram was Photoshopped.
Last week, Bieber dished out a new “no-photo” rule on an Instagram post claiming to feel like a “zoo animal” when fans bombard him with selfies. The Instagram announcement has over 140 thousand comments, and one is from miss Cry Baby,Melanie Martinez, herself!
Melanie Martinez, who recently addressed disrespectful fans, wasn’t on team Justin for this decision. The Cry Baby star commented on the photo (below) saying , “You decided to get into a career where you depend on fans. fans made your career.”
It appears as though Melanie meant no harm with the comment, and she even liked Justin’s follow up post about the decision. In a second picture, Justin screenshotted an angry fan’s strongly worded comment. The fan, account name braekess, used words like “prick” and “douche” to describe Bieber for not doing fan photos. In Justin’s response he claims that he is simply setting boundaries and not being a slave to the world’s demands.
“I’m going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth and no human being will make me feel bad for it,” Justin said. (Full response below)
Braekess you are so right btw your Instagram name is fire. Years ago it was impossible to even take a picture at anytime not everyone was accessible to a camera now everyone has a camera phone and Now it's just a different thing. If you think setting boundaries is being a douche I'm the biggest douche around but I think it's smart and will be the only way I last. I wanna enjoy life and not be a slave to the world and their demands of what they think I need to do!! I love the fact that I am able to make people happy but cmon if you truly were in my position you would understand how tiring it is ( boo hoo Justin get over it) I'm going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth and no human being will make me feel bad for it.
Some are calling Melanie hypocritical after she recently said fans made her “uncomfortable” by taking pictures of her. To be fair, Melanie was polite in her response to fans who were freely taking selfies with her.
After a fan puts their phone in front of Mel’s face, she responded saying, “It’s one thing to ask for a picture but to just take a picture of me is kinda weird, guys. I’m sorry, I just feel uncomfortable. I’m sorry.”
The “Dollhouse” singer has been open about her relationship with her fans since a concert goer stole her purse as a “souvenir” last fall. Following the incident, Melanie opened up on her Tumblr page addressing fans.
The post reads,” Just because I make music, doesn’t mean you have the right to dehumanize me,” she continues, “You bully me, you judge me, you call me a bitch If I’m having a bad day, the list goes on and on. I work my ass off for you, I give so much of myself to you, and i go broke to create for you.”

Perhaps, Melanie and Justin should team up and teach fans to respect the artist! What do you think of Justin Bieber not taking fan photos anymore? Do you think Melanie was in the wrong?
