In a new interview with Elle Magazine, Nick Jonas said he doesn’t have any regrets about dating Miley Cyrus when he was younger but thinks it is “unfortunate” that the two grew apart.
The “Jealous” singer dated Miley for two years until they broke up in 2007. Although he thinks dating a musician can be complicated, he is thankful that they were able to support each other during their adjustment to fame at a young age.
”I was so young. What’s unfortunate is that, as we got older, we ran in different circles. We’ve always had respect and wished the best for each other. I don’t know that I have any regrets. It’s more gratitude for having had a good friend in a time of craziness in my life and in hers,” Nick told Elle Magazine.
Jonas continued, ”I think that dating other musicians can be complicated at times. Especially when they think highly of themselves.”
When asked if those remarks were about a specific person, Nick denied such but he claims the complications are why he is no longer with those people.
The 22-year-old heartthrob has moved on from his Miley days and is currently dating former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo. Despite the big title, Nick says she is just a normal girl.
”She’s just Olivia from Rhode Island. She had this incredible opportunity and she conquered that world. But it doesn’t define her. Vanity is a big misconception, or that they [beauty queens] are not as intelligent as some people. But a lot of them are very sweet — with a real love and respect for women and for empowering women,” he said.
Olivia may have been the inspiration behind the hit song “Jealous,” but Nick says he will never get physical to any of his songs, though he thinks “Jealous” has a sexy beat and good tempo.
“That’s a no-fly zone! It’s so awkward. I’ve never even tried,” he said. “I do think about how many people have had sex to my music. And how many babies have been made to ‘Jealous’. It’s got a good tempo for sex. They should be naming their babies Nick or Nicole. I’m joking.”
When asked about the song he lost his virginity to, Jonas wishes he could change it.
“I think I would change the song,” Nick said. “I don’t want to say what song it was, but it was depressing. My iPod was on shuffle. It was a bad draw.”
Nick Jonas first rose to fame during his teenage years when he was a Jonas Brother who was targeted for wearing a purity ring. While he is comfortable discussing his sex life now, he thought it was inappropriate during those days.
“There was so much attention on my sex life at 15. It was uncomfortable,” he admitted. “If you were talking about a 15-year-old’s sex life or a 17-year-old’s in any other context it would be totally obscene.”
