Always trust the magic that is Pink to spill the truth, even if it means burning bridges with fellow female performers like Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, and Miley Cyrus.
A post by Instagram user Bethwsh, which Pink’s super fans believe to be her personal account after deleting her official one in 2012, states that the writer — most likely Pink — is “embarrassed” by this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“I felt embarrassed and sad. And old. We’re getting old. But in all seriousness; I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won’t save any kids life. In a world that is even scarier and with lives still worth saving, who will stand up and have soul? Disenfranchised to say the least. Let down by my industry and peers. Beside Macklemore and pharell and bieber (pre-sob fest) and the weekend, Tori Kelly was dope too. The rest was gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe.”
@Bethwsh makes some excellent points. It was only five years ago that the greatest moment at the VMAs was when Lady Gaga took the state in her meat dress to accept an award and sing the chorus of “Born This Way” for the first time. What followed were months of new singles by artists like Kesha (“We R Who We R”), Katy Perry (“Firework”), and even Pink (“Raise Your Glass,” “Perfect”) that highlighted individuality and conquering fear and loneliness.
Here’s a big high-five to Pink for still speaking up for the lonely and bullied kids who need inspiration! What do you think? Leave us a comment below with your thoughts.
