NSFW: Tove Lo, Icona Pop, and Charli XCX Team Up for ‘Bitches’

Props to Tove Lo for originality! The Swedish star’s new music video for “Bitches” features Charli XCX, Icona Pop, Elliphant, and ALMA helping a young couple spice up their sex lives.

The couple is played by Broad City’s Paul W. Downs (also incredible in Rought Night with Scarlett Johansson) and actress Jessy Hodges, and they are put in some very NSFW situations while taking lessons from Tove Lo and friends.

“Tove is one of our best friends and when she reached out it was a no brainer,” Icona Pop said a statement. “Everyone on this track is so different. All are boss ladies in our own way. Together we felt like Spice Girls 2018 on set.”

For anyone wondering how this pop girl quadruplet know each other, Pitchfork spells it out quite simple:

Tove Lo, Charli XCX, and Alma have previously collaborated together for Charli’s Pop 2 track, “Out Of My Head.” In 2016, Icona Pop and Elliphant performed “Someone Who Can Dance” together on the Swedish Grammys (Grammis Awards). Charli also appeared on Icona Pop’s 2012 hit single, “I Love It.”

“Bitches” is the latest single from the 2017 album Blue Lips, which followed 2016’s Lady Wood. As her career has progressed, Tove Lo’s music has become more and more sexual. One example: the album cover for Blue Lips is a photo of her from behind, wearing nothing but a thong.

“I choose to rub [sex] in people’s faces even more,” Tove Lo told NME. “If you look at the record title, the artwork – it’s obviously done as a reaction to reactions. For me, it’s very artistic rather than just a picture of my ass. Obviously, that’s going to upset a lot of people – ‘why does she have to do that?’ This feels good to me. I’m not doing it because someone’s telling me not to, but I feel like ‘oh, come on’.”
