On last night’s episode of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Lady Gaga performed two songs from Joanne, her no. 1 album that hit stores Friday. Watch “Ayo” and “Million Reasons” below.
The “Perfect Illusion” singer — who met with fans last week at her parents’ restaurant Joanne Trattoria to sign copies of the new album — took the SNL stage with friends Mark Ronson and Brian Newman. Ronson produced “Ayo” and other songs on Joanne, while Newman toured with Gaga and Tony Bennett during their Cheek To Cheek tour last year.
For “Million Reasons,” Gaga returned to the stage with singer-songwriter Hillary Lindsey, whom co-wrote many of Gaga’s new tracks but is best known for “Jesus Take The Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. Lindsey has also appeared on Lady Gaga’s Dive Bar Tour with Bud Light.
To no one’s surprise, Joanne is currently tops the iTunes album chart in more than 70 countries. The singer’s fans, known as Little Monsters, have waited three years for new music since 2013’s ARTPOP.
Fan-favorite tracks so far include, among others: “Angel Down” — a track inspired by the police shooting of Trayvon Martin –, “Dancing In Circles” — a song so hot that it outdoes other tracks –, and “Ayo” — a country hoedown song that Gaga says is about “leaving haters in the dust.”Published in
