Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards included spectacular performances by some of our favorite artists, but P!nk’s medley will go down as one of the most memorable performances in the show’s history.
The singer, who is currently promoting her upcoming album and new single “What About Us,” earned this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. In recent years, MJVV winners have been treated to performances of their greatest hits by other performers (for example, see Britney’s MJVV tribute show here).
P!nk (a.k.a. Alecia Moore) accepted the award with her own greatest hits medley, and our jaws dropped. Just watch.
The party started with the singer’s first-ever radio single “Get the Party Started” (fitting, right?) and transitioned into “Raise Your Glass” before P!nk brought a lawnmower on stage for “So What.” The rest of the performance included “F–cking Perfect,” “(Blow Me) One Last Kiss,” “Just Give Me A Reason,” and, finally, “What About Us.”
Every year at the Video Music Awards, the prestigious award is given to an artist who has significantly influenced MTV’s culture. Pink was selected “for her trailblazing impact on music, pop culture, fashion and philanthropy,” according to a statement from MTV.
