Netflix has notoriously implemented a straight-to-series model for most of its content, but according to a recent report from Deadline, the streamer is ordering a pilot for a comedy series starring Samara Weaving.
The series, titled Little Sky, will be a single-camera comedy starring and executive produced by Weaving (Scream VI, Ready or Not). According to the report, Netflix has ordered a pilot for the project from creator Rightor Doyle (Down Low), who will also direct the project.
The report also mentions that the move is not part of a broader change at Netflix, but instead specifically for this series. Per Deadline, executives at Netflix are high on the project, but wanted to see what the tone and chemistry of its cast would look like first before moving forward.
The series will follow Weaving’s character Penelope Paul Porter as she tries to realize her dream of being a respected on-air news reporter. “When she receives an anonymous tip that the Mayor of Little Sky is missing, she knows it’s her chance to finally prove herself,” reads the synopsis of the series. “Arriving in the spooky, remote town of Little Sky, she senses she’s on to a big story – but little does she know she’s stumbled upon something much darker than she could have ever imagined.”
